Formed in 1978 by 15-year-old Sheffield schoolboy Jarvis Cocker, Pulp released three albums between 1983 and 1992 on the Fire label before breaking through in the mid-1990s on Island Records with His 'n' Hers (1994). The follow-up, Different Class (released October 30, 1995) was a major critical and commercial success, bringing the group international acclaim, winning the 1996 Mercury Music Prize and debuting at number one on the UK Album Chart. It also produced four Top Ten singles, including the number two hits ‘Common People’ and ‘Mis-Shapes/Sorted for E's & Wizz’ and Disco 2000 (number seven). To date it has sold around 1.5 million units in the UK and over one million across Europe.
Remastered and reissued as a 2LP set last year for its 30th anniversary deluxe boxed set, it is being made available as a stand-alone 2LP special edition for the first time, and it comes housed in a unique gatefold sleeve design with printed inner sleeves that mirror those in the boxed set.
